Role:

Our Client is currently seeking an experienced #100780 Project Manager (Contract) in Edmonton, AB starting on or around August 30, 2021. This is a 12 months term with possibility of extension at client's discretion. The ideal candidate will have 8 years' Project Manager experience working on a large complex software application development project in an enterprise environment: defining project vision, scope, and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders; developing project deliverables, project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs and project closures. Additionally, you will have 2 years' experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex RFP development project (where the RFP is developed in house for that specific organization) in an enterprise environment.

General Responsibilities:
  • Compile project charters and business/project plans to support activities, including the most suitable approach to be used in the development of each applicable project, to ensure business objectives and data integrity are achieved.
  • Produce and package deliverables for presentation to various internal support teams, steering committee, and project stakeholders.
  • Work with project sponsors to ensure that effective project communication exists through the duration of the project
  • Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project's objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
  • Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, and facilitate tracking and closure of issues and risks.
  • Provide Leadership and assistance to Business and project Teams that require CM and Communication support.


Mandatory (Must have):
  • 8 years' experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex software application development project(s) in an enterprise environment.
  • 2 years' experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex RFP development project (where the RFP is developed in house for that specific organization) in an enterprise environment.
  • 8 years' experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • 8 years' experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs and project closures.
  • 1 year experience working on a project which involved working with (& knowledge of) the Canadian Merchant Services landscape &/or Payment Card Industry.


Desirable (Nice to have):
  • 2 years' experience managing RFP development projects following a formal project life cycle (ie: from initial requirements gathering, to development of the RFP for release to market, evaluations of proposals, vendor negotiations and ultimate award of the contract).
  • 2 years' experience working with public sector organizations will be considered an asset.
  • 2 years' experience working with staff, contractors, vendors, and third-party teams.
  • 2 years' experience in a role which required making sound decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues impacting the business.
  • 2 years' experience in a role which required working without formal guidelines or precedents, and the ability to exercise resourcefulness and ingenuity to interpret policy and drive the project to success.


Education (Must Have one of the following combinations):
  • University graduation in business, management, or related discipline & 4-yr Project Management (PM) experience; OR 2-yr diploma in business, management or related discipline & 6-yr PM experience; OR 1-yr certificate in business, management or related discipline & 7-yr PM experience; OR 8-yr PM experience .
  • Currently active PMP or PGMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent as desirable.
